School leadership Workshop for School Principals and Head Teachers Underway at ATWS Dharamshala

ATWS Dharamshala, August 20, 2025: The Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, is hosting a School Leadership Workshop for Principals and Head-teachers at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society (ATWS) in Dharamshala from August 19th to 22nd, 2025. ATWS is providing the venue and service facilities for the workshop. Around 16 Head Teachers and School Principals from various Tibetan schools under STSS and TCV are participating.

Mr. Mohd. Amzad and Ms. Apoorva Namdev from Alokit Education Leadership Private Limited, India, are leading the workshop. The workshop aims to equip school leaders with essential leadership skills, such as improved instruction, strategic planning, effective decision-making, efficient school operations, team management, and a reflective and persistent learning growth mind-set.

The Opening session was presided over by DoE’s Additional Secretary Mr. Tenzin Dorjee la in presence of the two trainers along with Dr. Kelsang Wangdu la of Alinea International and DoE Staff Mrs. Sonam Gangsang la. The session began with a warm welcome to all attendees, especially the two training facilitators from Alokit Education Foundation Private Limited by Additional Secretary Mr. Tenzin Dorjee la.

Briefing about the Chief Guest Education Kalon, who was unable to attend due to another important official meeting, Mr. Tenzin Dorjee la shared that, based on his personal experiences and research findings recognizing quality classroom teaching and supportive school leadership as key factors in student learning, the Education Department has embarked upon numerous capacity-building programs, including the School Leadership Program, initiated in 2020.

He highlighted that the School Leadership Program has trained over 90 school leaders over the last few years from 2020 to 2023 and also supported infrastructure development in some schools till now with funding from Global Affairs Canada (now Alinea International). Finally, he emphasized the importance of achieving visible results with enhanced student learning outcomes through practical implementation of the knowledge shared.

Following the Additional Secretary’s introductory remarks, the session continued with the training facilitators’ self-introduction and overview of their work background.

During the workshop, participants will receive instruction on instructional leadership skills, strategic leadership skills, and people leadership skills, including staff management, team building, and reflective learning growth mind-set.
