Gender Sensitization Workshop held at Dharamshala

ATWS Dharamshala, July 19, 2025: The Department of Finance (DoF), CTA organized a two-day Gender Sensitization Workshop from July 17 to 18, 2025, at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society, Dharamshala. ATWS facilitated the training with venue and service facilities.

The inaugural session, held on July 17 morning was presided over by Finance Secretary Mr. Tsering Dhondup la as the Chief Guest, in the presence of staff members of the Women Empowerment Desk of the Finance Department.

As per the overarching goal of CTA of making Tibetan Women equal partners in all aspects of Tibetan Society with the release of its revised SGBV Implementation guideline to prevent all sorts of Sexual and Gender based Violence in the Community, this in-house workshop was facilitated by WED staff themselves.

In his key note address, Chief Guest Mr. Tsering Dhondup la, stressed that gender sensitization is crucial for nurturing freedom of thought and speech amongst the mass for a holistic development and mainstreaming gender equality in the Society while introducing the significance of the workshop.

Given the ample opportunities available today, Gender Sensitization Workshops aim to mainstream gender equality and enable citizens to access equal opportunities based on their genuine aptitude and ability.

He emphasized the importance of awareness in dispelling gender-biased stereotypical thinking, including discrimination against people with special needs, in this predominantly patriarchal society, and in promoting equality for a more inclusive society, as outlined in national policies.

The Secretary urged participants to adhere to the host country’s rules and regulations against sexual violence and the CTA’s SGBV implementation guideline.

Following the key-note address, the event resumed with a session on Gender Concepts by workshop facilitator Mrs. Tenzin Dolker la.

The workshop covered topics like gender concepts, gender socialization, power and patriarchy, intersectionality, violence, and SGBV.

Around 28 participants from various CTA departments attended the workshop.
